Focused operational improvement drives increased profitability

Problem

The client, a leading global mining and quarrying business, was experiencing sub-optimal profitability and looking for a third party to perform a complete review of the company’s strategy and operations, and develop a remedial action plan.

Approach

Clarus Consulting was approached to perform a complete review of the company’s strategy and operations, including quarrying processes, marketing strategy and logistics. The project consisted of an initial 10-week Analysis phase followed by a 9 months Delivery phase.

Outcome

The initial Analysis phase demonstrated that there were a number of improvement opportunities across the business, which were backed by a Net Present Value positive business case. Once approved by the board, the Delivery phase helped the client capitalise on the identified opportunities through a series of operational improvements and strategy adjustments, leading to increased profitability.
